Hello everyone, and welcome to the Portland Fire Department Fire Instructor 1 course. This course will help you understand the role and responsibilities of a fire instructor. We will be using the IFSTA Fire Instructor Manual 9th edition. The self-paced class will begin on September 1 and end at the end of September. The final exam will be held on three different days: September 30, October 2, and October 4. The location for the final exam and state skills assessment will be communicated to everyone at a later date. It is expected that students will read the course material prior to the classroom sessions if possible. The better prepared that students are for each session, the more enhancements can occur to meet the objectives in each topic area.

Welcome to the Riverside Fire Department Aerial Certification course. This course will be held between July 31 and August 27, 2024. The course will be Hybrid format. All course work will open on July 31 an you will have until August 27 to complete all coursework and tests. August 28 and 29 will be a classroom setting reviewing all material and preparing you for Practical Skills testing here at Riverside Fire Department. Practical skills testing will take place at the Riverside Fire Department on August 30.

Are you ready to take your rescue skills to the next level? Our NFPA Rope Rescue Technician course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and techniques necessary to perform rope rescues safely and effectively in a variety of scenarios.
Course Overview:

- Location: Gresham Fire Department Training Center 19204 NE San Rafael Portland, OR
- Certification: Oregon DPSST Certified
- Duration: Four days of hands on training and 8 Hours of Online Coursework.
- Format: Combination of hands-on practical sessions and online coursework
- Instructor: Experienced professionals with extensive rope rescue expertise
Course Content:
1. Rope Systems and Equipment: Gain proficiency in the selection, inspection, and use of ropes, harnesses, and other essential equipment.
2. Anchoring and Rigging: Learn to set up secure anchor systems and rigging configurations for safe rope rescue operations.
3. Knots and Hitches: Master a variety of knots, hitches, and rope management techniques crucial for effective rope handling.
4. Patient Packaging and Movement: Acquire techniques for packaging and transporting patients safely during rope rescue scenarios.
5. High-Angle Rescue Techniques: Develop skills in ascending, descending, belaying, and other high-angle rescue maneuvers.
6. Team Communication and Coordination: Learn effective communication strategies and teamwork principles essential for successful rope rescue missions.
Certification:
Upon successful completion of the course and online coursework, you will receive certification as a NFPA Rope Rescue Technician. This certification is recognized by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) and meets national standards for rope rescue technicians.
