The purpose of Apparatus Driver Operator- Pumper/ Aerial is to educate driver/ operators who are responsible for operating apparatus equipped with fire pumps. Students will learn general principles of pump operation, along with the application of those principles wherever feasible. It is also to guide the driver/ operator in the proper operation and care of apparatus.
The course provides an overview of safe driving techniques, types of pumping apparatus, positioning of apparatus, fire pump theory and operation, hydraulic calculations, water shuttle procedures, foam systems operations and apparatus maintenance and testing.
