This course is designed for the entry level fire officer, and is taught in consultation with the NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I standards and methods. This course's target audience is firefighters and officers that are tasked with leading other fireman during emergency situations.

The candidate will have access to all potential score sheets that may be examined of which a random selection will be utilized. The candidates must be prepared to demonstrate all skills and to verbalize the results of their submitted projects.
Candidates can participate in the MFA training program Fire Officer 1 which has an embedded practical exam.
PREREQUITES: Proof of Certification to the minimum level of Fire Instructor 1 and passing the Fire Officer 1 written exam (C40_v3) Certification from other entities accredited by either the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualification or the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress is also accepted.

This five‐day, 40-hour course is designed to provide individuals with
the ability to perform as a supervisor or manager in a fire service
organization. Following the requirements of NFPA 1021, Standard for Fire
Officer Professional Qualifications, Chapter 5, 2020 edition, this course
examines the Fire Officer level II role in Human Resources Management,
Administrative Responsibilities, Community and Government Relations, Fire
Safety Inspections, Fire Cause and Origin Investigations, Emergency Services
Delivery, and Health and Safety. Students are still expected to demonstrate a high
level of participation.

This course curriculum integrates insights from leading authorities to explore effective instructional methods and the principles of adult learning. Emphasis is placed on teaching techniques that apply across diverse training environments, as well as specialized approaches for specific instructional settings. The course also highlights strategies for assessing instructional effectiveness and the purposeful use of media and visual aids to enhance learning outcomes.
Student performance is evaluated in accordance with the Job Performance Requirements (JPRs) outlined in NFPA 1041: Standard for Fire and Emergency Services Instructor Professional Qualifications (2019 edition), Sections 4.1 through 4.5. These benchmarks assess competencies in lesson plan preparation, instructional delivery, student evaluation, and recordkeeping.
