The Fire Inspector I course provides students with the fundamentals of the fire and life safety codes and standards associated with the responsibilities of the Fire Inspector I. This course is for Firefighters and other individuals that are interested in the aspect of fire prevention and inspections.

The course consists of a 44-hour classroom portion and pre-course work. It is based on the NFPA 1031 Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plans Examiner. Some topics covered in this course are construction types, occupancy classification, occupancy load, means of egress, fire hazard recognition, fire suppression systems, fire detection and alarm systems.
