This practical examination the candidate will be examined in selected scenario based assignments as required by NFPA Standard 1021 for Fire Officer 1 2020 edition, in the areas of Emergency Assignments, Station Assignments, Training Evolutions, Personnel Actions, Apply Policy, Coordinate Tasks, Public Concerns, Citizens Concerns, Public Inquiry, Implement Policy, Administrative Functions, Budget Requests, Management Components, Incident Response, Inspection Procedures, Identify Features, Secure Scene, Action Plan, Implement Action, Post Incident, Apply Safety, Accident Investigation and Wellness Benefit.

The candidate will have access to all potential score sheets that may be examined of which a random selection will be utilized. The candidates must be prepared to demonstrate all skills and to verbalize the results of their submitted projects.

Candidates can participate in the MFA training program Fire Officer 1 which has an embedded practical exam.

PREREQUITES: Proof of Certification to the minimum level of Fire Instructor 1 and passing the Fire Officer 1 written exam (C40_v3) Certification from other entities accredited by either the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualification or the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress is also accepted.
