The BC2FD Hybrid Fire Academy was created to assist with the shift schedule of the first responder. Students will be expected to complete 10-20 hours a week of course work on their own using the educational resources provided. Students will meet three days a week for an 8 hour skills days and face to face lecture. Students are expected to attend all skills days to gain the full development of practical “hands on” muscle memory. The course meets and/or exceeds the job performance requirements for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 and the State Firefighters and Fire Marshal’s Association of Texas. The program will be proctored through TEEX and students will receive CEUs from TEEX at the end of the course. 

Requirements: The course covers 21 chapters of course material and covers TCFP skills. The course material includes online power points, quizzes, tests, and chapter outlines. Weekly access to a computer with Microsoft Office is a must. This course requires one day of TCFP skills that will be conducted at Station 121 located at 2096 Talley Road San Antonio, TX. 78253.

Course Curriculum: This course will utilize the IFSTA Essentials of Firefighting, 6th edition and student workbook. This book can be purchased through IFSTA website at www.IFSTA.org.

This is a 8 week course which will begin September 30 through November 22, 2019. Students are expected to cover 1-3 chapters a week with quizzes, tests and a assignments in the student course workbook; students must maintain a GPA of a 75. All course work will be completed through the IFSTA Resource One online platform. Students will meet at 2096 Talley Road San Antonio, TX. 78253 for skill days and or at a designated off site location. The TCFP Challenge skills exam will be scheduled for December 11 and will be done on site in a proctored setting in Buda, Texas.
