Hello and welcome to the Fire Officer 1 Class hosted by the Portland Fire Department. My name is Thomas Pinder, and I am the Assistant Chief. Captain Kahl is also assisting with this class. We are committed to ensuring that everyone understands the material and the responsibilities of being a fire officer. Fire Officer 1 serves as the foundation for comprehending this role.

There will be several quizzes and a test, all conducted online, along with a skills packet from TCFP. Please print the Skills sheet from TCFP and have it available for the course. We will also require discussion posts to be completed. Create a post that addresses the question asked and provides a response. There will be a grade on participation for this. We will also send out skill request information for you to complete and submit. 

We will complete the skills assessments with one of my instructors, but we can make adjustments as needed. All PowerPoint presentations and quizzes are created by IFSTA, not by our team. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
