    Essentials of Fire Fighting 6th Edition Cover


    This course is a preview of IFSTA's Essentials of Fire Fighting, 7th edition Chapter 1. ResourceOne courses are fully customizable by the instructor. You'll be able to add additional resources, rearrange the content within the course, and edit activity settings to meet your needs.

    • Discussion Forum 

    • All courses come with a Discussion Forum to facilitate student-student and student-instructor communication.
    • BigBlueButton is a virtual classroom embedded directly into ResourceOne you can use to host online class sessions, similar to Google Meet or Zoom.

  • NIMS-ICS Courses

    Essentials of Fire Fighting courses come with FEMA's NIMS-ICS course links loaded into assignments.

    The assignment will take students to the FEMA website to complete the courses to obtain their certificate. Students can then upload their completion certificate to the assignment for you to view as the instructor.

    You can choose to remove these if not applicable to your course.

  • Chapter 1 - Introduction to the Fire Service and Firefighter Safety

    Standard, free courses will come loaded with the associated curriculum components such as PowerPoint® slides, quizzes, and tests.

    • Chapter quizzes are set by default to allow students unlimited attempts with their highest grade recorded in the gradebook. By default students are not able to view previously submitted attempts. ResourceOne courses are fully customizable, you can change the settings for your course and activities to meet your needs. You can add or delete questions, randomize the questions and answers, set open and close dates, set time limits, and customize how much feedback the student is able to see after submitting their attempt including the correct answer.

ResourceOne courses are fully customizable, you can change the settings for your course and activities to meet your needs. You can add or delete questions, randomize the questions and answers, set open and close dates, set time limits, and customize how much feedback the student is able to see after submitting their attempt including the correct answer.

      Premium add-ons are available for a per-student cost and can be added to instructor led courses in ResourceOne.

    • IFSTA® Exam Prep study guides are great for students to prepare for a certification or promotional exam. Each study guide comes with hundreds of multiple choice questions perfect for testing the student’s knowledge. The study guide questions are unique and not found in any of our other products, quizzes or tests.


    • IFSTA® Workbooks utilize a variety of question types including: true/false, matching, multiple choice, key terms, and short answer questions to reinforce different learning styles. Instructors can control whether students get feedback while they work and what feedback they receive. The workbook is a great enhancement to any ResourceOne online classroom.

      Some workbook questions such as short answers or picture identification may require instructor manual grading.


    • IFSTA® Interactive modules combine text, charts, images, and videos to guide the student through each chapter. Knowledge Checks throughout the interactive course ensure the student understands the material. The module is graded on completion and the student will receive a 100 in the gradebook.

      Interactive modules by default are responsive, each subsequent module within a chapter becomes available to the student once the previous module is completed.

  • Course Completion

    All courses come with a Course Evaluation for feedback on the course and the contents. The Course Evaluation has preloaded questions, you will be able to edit the existing questions or add your own.
    • Once all course requirements are completed, fill out the online course evaluation, and access and print your Notice of Completion.

    • All courses have a Notice of Completion included that will provide your students with a document showing they have completed the course. You will be able to customize the appearance of the certificate, including adding your organization's logo.


      By default the Notice of Completion unlocks for students after they've received a passing score (70%) on all chapter tests. The requirements for unlocking the certificate are customizable by the instructor.
